Common Nouns And Proper Nouns

Last week in Te Ngahere we learnt the difference between common nouns and proper nouns. Our WALT was to: Use proper nouns and common nouns in our writing correctly.  Our teachers ran a whole class workshop, which means our whole class has to attend the workshop. After the workshop we got into buddies and made a google drawing to show that we understand the differences. A proper nouns is a certain person, place or thing. A common noun is a label for a person, place or thing, like teacher is a common noun so it shouldn’t start with a capital letter. Whaea Chrissy is a proper noun so it starts with a capital letter.

Te Reo Maori Quiz

Two weeks ago Te Ngahere made Te Reo Maori Quizzes. Our WALT was to: Ask and answer questions about classroom items. We made our quizzes on google slides. We could work in pairs or by our selves. We added pictures of items from a classroom and put 2+ Te Reo words underneath the item we linked the correct word to the correct answer slide and the wrong word/s to the wrong answer slide. So when someone clicks the correct answer it would take you to the correct slide and if they click the wrong slide then the link takes you to the wrong slide which says: Kahore, try again, kia kaha and supportive words. We got to decorate it however we wanted to, and add Maori art for backgrounds and things like that. I had fun making my Te Reo Maori Quiz with Aliyah. We had fun choosing items to put into our slide and learning what some of the items translate too.

Maths Goals

Last week in Te Ngahere we had to set three maths goals. Our WALT was: Identify what we have achieved in maths and our next learning steps. So we had to look at our IKAN sheets and scan for three strategies that we had marked To Learn or Visited. Once we had picked out our three maths goals we had to write them into our term 3 learning goals slide. When we were finished with that we needed to make a google drawing. I copied and pasted my goals into my google drawing with an example to suit my goal. I decorated the background and prettied everything up to make it look nice. We have made these google drawings to hang on the walls of Te Ngahere so we could see our goals easier and we could always know what they were.
